Secretary of the Venice Commission Gianni Buquicchio announced today in the talks with Serbian Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Milan Markovic that a joint delegation of the Venice Commission and the EU should soon come to a working visit to Serbia.
The aim of the visit will be continuation of talks on further cooperation. The two officials underlined that the opinion of the Venice Commission about the Serbian Constitution is very important as is its readiness to contribute to further reforms in Serbia, especially in the field of independence of judiciary.
Markovic opened today in the palace of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg an exhibition called "Landscapes of Serbia", organised on the occasion of the plenary session of the Council of Europe's Congress of Local and Regional Authorities. The opening was attended by President of the Vojvodina Assembly Bojan Kostres, and members of Serbia's permanent delegation to this body.
Serbia's chairmanship over the Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers will be the main topic of today's meeting of Serbian Minister for Public Administration and Local Self-Government Milan Markovic and Council of Europe Secretary-General Terry Davis.
