Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica stressed today in a meeting with Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs Luís Filipe Marques Amado that Serbia’s state policy toward Kosovo-Metohija is established and clearly defined in the Serbian Constitution and the resolutions adopted by Serbian parliament.
The Prime Minister stressed that in line with the UN Charter and the Serbian Constitution, Kosovo-Metohija is a constituent and inalienable part of Serbia.
Kostunica said that Serbia is clearly in favour of European integration and that activities to continue the process lie ahead that will result in the signing the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) soon.
He stressed that the Serbian government will continue and speed up the process of passing laws aligned with EU legislation.
The Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs whose country will take over the chairmanship of the EU on July 1 stressed in the meeting with Kostunica that Portugal fully supports Serbia in continuation of European integration.
Amado stressed that Serbia is very important for stability in the region and that Portugal, during its EU chairmanship, will pay special attention to Serbia and this region.
