Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica met today with Slovak Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Kubis and said that when it comes to Kosovo-Metohija’s future status, the newly-formed government will lead the policy already defined and confirmed by the Serbian Constitution and the resolutions adopted by Serbian parliament.
The Prime Minister stressed that in line with the UN Charter and Serbian Constitution, Kosovo-Metohija is a constituent and inalienable part of Serbia.
He stressed that the Serbian government is fully prepared to take its share of responsibilities and emphasised that through new talks it is possible to find a compromise solution on an acceptable form of autonomy for Kosovo-Metohija within Serbia.
He also noted that the new government’s policy is based on five key principles, and these are – state policy toward Kosovo-Metohija, EU integration, cooperation with the Hague Tribunal, social and economic reforms and fighting organised crime and corruption.
Slovak foreign minister Jan Kubis congratulated Kostunica on the formation of the new Serbian government and welcomed the principles of the government’s policy.
They jointly concluded that Serbia and the Slovak Republic have traditionally friendly relations and voiced readiness to further improve relations between their countries.
