Serbian Minister of Interior Dragan Jocic met today with Russian Minister of Emergencies Sergei Shoygu and briefed him on Serbia’s plans to set-up a national protection and rescue system which would react in cases of floods and technical and technological accidents.

Jocic presented the Serbian interior ministry’s capacities in the field of emergency protection and rescue and stressed the importance of efficient management, clear legal framework and the necessary resources for performing activities in large-scale emergencies.
The collocutors pointed out Russia’s huge experience in this area, as well as Serbia’s interest in cooperating and sharing knowledge and experience through joint training, exchange of scientific and technical data, as well as mutual help in emergency situations.
They concluded that advancement of cooperation between the Serbian interior ministry’s Department of Protection and the Russian Ministry of Emergencies would greatly help the setting-up of this system in Serbia.
