Naumov said on the occasion that the Serbian government is the first in southeastern Europe to have adopted the
Serbian national gasification action plan two and a half years ago, which envisages the gasification of 400,000 households before 2015.
Serbia is on the road to become a natural gas transit country, the Minister said and recalled that late last year, the Ministry of Energy and Mining and Gazprom Export started to investigate possibilities for
building a large European gas pipeline through Serbia.
Assistant Minister of Energy and Mining for the Sector of public companies Milutin Prodanovic explained that Markovac station is the first facility in the field of energy financed from the National Investment Plan, which will enable the spreading of the gas distribution network to surrounding villages.
He said that distribution gas pipeline Milosevac will soon be completed, which is also situated near Velika Plana, and that it will cost more than RSD 43.5 million. He explained that the construction of distribution gas pipelines near Velika Plana is part of the project of construction of seven gas pipelines in central and western Serbia, financed from the National Investment Plan.
Director of Srbijagas public company Milos Milankovic said that this main measurement/regulation station will enable the supplying of more than 4,000 households in several villages in the Velika Plana municipality with natural gas.
