Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica said today during the talks with Political Director of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Kai Eide that it is very important that a delegation of the Security Council will soon come to Belgrade and Pristina to see for itself the real situation concerning the fulfillment of standards in Kosovo-Metohija and implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1244.
Kostunica said that sending a UN Security Council delegation is the first step in starting new real talks on Kosovo-Metohija with a new international mediator, since the plan of Martti Ahtisaari is illegal, illegitimate and directly in opposition to the UN Charter and Resolution 1244.
The Serbian Prime Minister said that it is possible to find a compromise and sustainable solution for Kosovo-Metohija which is in line with international law, the UN Charter and its first and basic principle of inviolability of sovereignty and territorial integrity. That solution is substantial autonomy for the province within Serbia's state borders.
Kostunica underlined that standards have not been fulfilled in Kosovo and that Serbs and other non-Albanians are victims of terror of Albanians every day, and that no progress has been made concerning the return of the expelled Serbs and other non-Albanians.
