A statement by the Ministry of Justice says that the subject of the meeting was review of the result of efforts made thus far to resolve problems of the Roma minority in the area of judiciary, in the framework of the initiative of the National Council for the selection of candidates for Roma court interpreters.
Preparations are underway for holding a seminar for training of candidates for Roma court interpreters, which will be realised with the help of the OSCE. The aim of this project is to provide members of the Roma minority the right to use their language in procedures concerning state organs.
It was also concluded during the meeting that it is necessary to continue providing motivation to the Roma minority to apply for jobs advertised for jurors, so that this minority is represented in juries throughout Serbia.
Participants of the meeting invited Minister Stojkovic to attend the celebration on World Roma Day on April 8, reads the statement.
