Head of the project titled Capacity Building of the National Medical Products Agency, Tomica Milosavljevic said today that the aim of this project is to harmonise activities in the pharmaceutical sector in Serbia with EU standards.
Milosavljevic said at a meeting regarding the beginning of the realisation of the project that it is being implemented within the framework of the EU CARDS assistance programme for Serbia, on the recommendation of the Serbian Ministry of Health.
He explained that the project will be realised through direct cooperation and exchange of experience between the French Agency for Health Products and the Medicines and Medical Devices Agency of Serbia.
According to Milosavljevic, the project will include employee training and capacity strengthening of domestic agencies with the aim to improve health care and easier access to quality medicines.
These activities will allow evaluation of medicines and registration of new ones in accordance with valid EU standards, said Milosavljevic, and added that by 2009 all standards in the area of pharmacology must be harmonised with European standards.
