Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica pointed out today in a meeting with Danish Foreign Minister Per Stig Moeller that solution to Kosovo-Metohija must be sought through a compromise respecting international law, the UN Charter and its basic principle that guarantees sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Kostunica warned that every solution that would disrespect principles of international law on which international order is based would have far-reaching consequences on stability.
He stressed that Belgrade is constructively participating in Vienna negotiations and that the Serbian negotiating team will dispute with amendments Martti Ahtisaari’s proposal that violates sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia.
The Prime Minister stressed that Ahtisaari is trying to impose a solution to Kosovo-Metohija’s status, which is confirmed by the fact that Ahtisaari said on several occasions that no compromise is possible.
Stig Moeller said that Denmark supports Serbia’s European integration and noted that Serbia has made a big progress in reforms.
He added that Denmark hails the EU’s decision on negotiations aimed at relieving visa conditions for Serbian citizens.
Kostunica and Stig Moeller agreed that relations between Serbia and Denmark are good and that there are opportunities to further develop economic cooperation between the two countries.
