A:

Miner Miloje Pavlovic killed in Jama mine accident

Belgrade, 20 February 2007

The Serbian Ministry of Energy and Mining stated today that yesterday in an accident in Bor mine Jama, miner Miloje Pavlovic lost his life whereas seven other miners were injured.

The Ministry sent authorised mine inspectors on the spot immediately following the accident.

Rescue teams pulled out seven injured miners, five of whom are still in hospital, whereas the body of deceased Pavlovic was found around 11 pm last night.

Mine inspectors are still on the spot and are establishing the facts and causes of the accident. The public will be informed thereof in detail.

Minister of Energy and Mining Radomir Naumov and associates from the Mining Sector will visit Bor tomorrow to meet with the mine’s management and injured miners.
