The session which will take place in the Sava Centre in Belgrade will be attended by newly appointed WHO Director-General Margaret Chan, WHO Regional Director for Europe Mark Danzon and Nata Menabde who signed the document today.
European health ministers, state secretaries, their assistants and associates will attend the meeting, which demonstrates the significance of the gathering at which agreements dealing with Europeans' health will be made.
WHO general and regional directors will deliver speeches and the participants will also evaluate the progress of the implementation of WHO's adopted resolutions, strategies and action plans.
The meeting will particularly look at issues related to health policy, such as human health resources, the European Action Plan for Food and Nutrition Policy, the implementation of conclusions from the ministerial conference on obesity held in Istanbul, as well as the Millennium development goals in the European region, such as health systems and children and mothers' health.
Furthermore, the meeting will touch upon issues from previous WHO Regional Committee sessions, such as the European Environment and Health Committee's annual report, implementation of activities for strengthening health systems and others. Special attention will be paid to action plans for bird flu and other threats to human health.
The Ministry of Health says that it is very important for Serbia to present itself at this meeting in the best way with its activities for preservation and improvement of people's health and the health system reforms.
