Representatives of Italian UniCredito and Banca Intesa banks met with Serbian Deputy Minister of International Economic Relations Vlatko Sekulovic and National Bank of Serbia (NBS) Governor Radovan Jelasic yesterday to discuss the Serbian banking sector privatisation, the Ministry of International Economic Relations said in a statement.
UniCredito CEO Alessandro Profumo, foreign investment department head Paolo Fiorentino and advisor Giuseppe Scognamilio have expressed the bank’s interest in the privatisation of Serbian banks, particularly Novosadska Banka.
Banca Intesa CEO Corrado Passera and his associates have also expressed readiness to invest in the Serbian market.
Sekulovic said that the government has positive expectations for further development of the country’s economy and politics.
According to Italian bank officials, the process of privatisation must be transparent and has to provide equal conditions for all participants.
