Draskovic said he had informed President of the European Council of Ministers Brian Cowen, member of the European Commission Janez Potocnik, and Solana about Serbia-Montenegro’s policy for Kosovo-Metohija and told them that there must not be double standards in the province.
He also said that helping Serbs in Kosovo is the international community’s primary obligation.
Draskovic told reporters following the meeting that Solana, Cowen, and Potocnik agreed that around 40,000 Serb homes, and some 150 churches must be rebuilt as soon as possible and that conditions must be created for the return of more than 200,000 Serbs and other non-Albanians who have fled the province over the past five years.
Draskovic said that decentralisation must be based on the highest degree of local self- government for Serbs and other ethnic communities in Kosovo, with full security for people and property.
Draskovic also said that borders must not be changed but that they should be open for the flow of goods, capital and people.
He also pointed to the importance of Serbian-Albanian dialogue, mediated by the European Union and the international community.
