Another tragic incident in the Hague tribunal is absolutely unacceptable for the Serbian government, the government concluded. For that reason, the government vigorously rejects in advance any possible explanation from the tribunal to justify a potentially tragic outcome.
After numerous warnings by the Serbian government to the tribunal, after a letter sent by Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica to tribunal’s president and after Ljajic’s talks with Pocar, the Serbian government once more publicly and explicitly demands that the Hague tribunal take most urgent necessary measures to allow Vojislav Seselj the right to defend himself the way he thinks is best for him.
The Serbian government warns that the rights of Hague suspects must be fully respected, which in the case of Vojislav Seselj is the right to a defence he chooses and the right to life. The government deems it necessary that all necessary measures should be taken to protect those rights without delay. At this moment, full responsibility is on the Hague tribunal, the government said in a statement.
