The Environmental Protection Directorate of the Serbian Ministry of Education and Environmental Protection stated today it has brought a decision according to which a temporary ban has been put on the operation of all installations for conveyance of pyrolitic fuel oil from the chemical industry of Pancevo “Petrohemija”. The ban will be in force until conditions are created for minimising the affects of operations in the industry on the environment.
The Environmental Protection Directorate will continue to further monitor the work of the factory in the south industrial zone, and in accordance with its jurisdiction and current situation, will propose measures for ensuring implementation of decisions adopted by the Serbian government at its session yesterday and the agreement which was reached with all members of the coordinating team for monitoring air pollution in Pancevo, reads the statement.
