The Ministry of the Interior said today that 20 wildfires are currently active across Serbia, with intensive efforts under way to contain and extinguish them.
Members of the Ministry of the Interior’s Emergency Situations Sector and Helicopter Unit are engaged in firefighting and containment efforts along with members of the Serbian Armed Forces, volunteer fire brigades, public companies and international teams.
The wildfire in the Deliblato Sands area is active and the situation is currently calm; the fire on Mt. Stolovi has encompassed an area of approximately 200 hectares of extremely inaccessible terrain; and a fire on Mt. Goč near Vrnjačka Banja is also active, on an area of around 10 hectares of pine forest.
Firefighting crews and the relevant services are also battling wildfires in Lukovo near Vranje and in Kaona near Lučani.
