Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica casts his ballot at the referendum
In a statement given to reporters after casting his vote at the referendum, Kostunica said that with the new Constitution Serbia’s statehood will be rounded up and it will become a democratic and legal state in the right way.
He stressed that with the adoption of the supreme legal act, we confirm and arrange the house we live in, that Serbia asks us to do so, that we must and can do that because we owe her that much.
The Serbian Prime Minister said that the Constitution preserves Serbia’s state unity, strengthen and develop its democratic identity and human and minority rights, and added that all citizens of Serbia, regardless of their creed and ethnicity, can feel Serbia as their home.
The Constitution proves once more that Serbia is committed to principles of international law when it comes to Kosovo-Metohija, which is an integral part of Serbia not only from the historic viewpoint and that of Serbia’s internal law, but from the position of international law as well.
The Constitution regulates ownership relations such that private ownership and conditions of economic activity enable a faster economic growth and better life in Serbia.
Kostunica added that the unanimity in the Constitution’s adoption expressed in parliament should be confirmed today and tomorrow at the referendum.
