Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić met today with Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil to the Republic of Serbia Maria Clara de Abreu Rada.
Referring to his recent official visit and talks in Brasília with Minister of Foreign Affairs Mauro Vieira, Đurić assessed that the visit had given new impetus to the further strengthening of relations between the two countries.
At the same time, as the head of Serbian diplomacy noted, the shared commitment of Serbia and Brazil to further strengthen their traditional friendship through the enhancement of political, economic and other forms of cooperation was also confirmed.
The interlocutors noted that during the visit a high degree of mutual understanding, respect and support on the most important issues had been confirmed, and Đurić also conveyed on this occasion to the Brazilian Ambassador that Serbia would like to host Minister Mauro Vieira and President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
Speaking about the potential for cooperation, the head of Serbian diplomacy pointed to significant opportunities for further strengthening economic cooperation, bearing in mind that Brazil is Serbia’s most important economic partner in Latin America, as well as cooperation in agriculture, livestock farming and the food industry. Talks were also held on strengthening ties between diplomatic academies, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
