Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica said today in meeting with a delegation of the Council of Europe led by Director General of Political Affairs Jean-Louis Laurens that the new Constitution defends Serbia’s territorial integrity and keeps Kosovo-Metohija within Serbia.
Kostunica said that the new Constitution dedicates special attention to provisions on human and minority rights and rights of national communities, which are completely harmonised with highest European standards.
The Prime Minister added that the position of Kosovo-Metohija in the new Constitution is harmonised with highest norms of international law and the principle of respecting territorial integrity of states.
The meeting also discussed Serbia’s future presiding over the Committee of Council of Europe Ministers.
The delegation of the Council of Europe said that this organisation cooperates well with Serbia and added that the democratic process in Serbia has progressed lately.
