Kostunica said that there is no possibility that the UN Security Council will allow the violation of the UN Charter and the seizure of 15% of Serbia’s territory. He added that it is not possible to proclaim the independence of Kosovo-Metohija without a decision from the Security Council as all UN country members are obliged to respect the valid UN Security Council Resolution 1244.
For Serbia this now means that we have to finish our part of the job and that we cannot expect others to respect us if we are not unified and harmonious in adopting the Constitution and if we fail to confirm that Kosovo-Metohija is an integral part of Serbia through our domestic law, Kostunica said.
According to him, failure to confirm the Constitution would have gloomy and unforeseeable consequences.
The constitutional issue is the issue of the country’s future and I am convinced that Serbia, as always in its history, will make the right decision, the Prime Minister said.
