Further strengthening of extraordinary strategic relations between Serbia, China in numerous areas

Belgrade, 19 May 2026

Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić discussed today with Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Serbia Li Ming the most important aspects of bilateral cooperation, regional and geopolitical challenges, as well as cooperation at the multilateral level.

Đurić emphasised that there is a very high level of agreement between the two countries on the most important current geopolitical issues, as well as on the position that priority in resolving crises and conflicts is given to diplomatic means, and not to unilateral actions and military force.

The interlocutors noted that the personal friendship and exceptionally good relations between President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić and President of China Xi Jinping contribute to the improvement of both bilateral cooperation and the implementation of capital projects in the fields of infrastructure, construction and energy in Serbia as well as the implementation of projects of wider importance.

During the conversation, special attention was paid to issues related to the upcoming official visit of the President of Serbia to China.

In this context, the head of Serbian diplomacy expressed his belief that this visit at the highest state level will have historical significance for our country and that it will give a strong impetus and contribution to the further strengthening of the extraordinary strategic relations and even closer and more fruitful cooperation between Serbia and China in a large number of areas.
