First agreement signed for summer camps for youth from diaspora

Minister without portfolio in charge of coordinating activities and measures in the field of relations with the diaspora Đorđe Milićević and Deputy Mayor of Valjevo Đorđe Milanović signed today the first agreement on the implementation of this year’s thematic summer camp for youth from the diaspora and the region, which will be held in that city.

Milićević emphasised on that occasion that the criteria for meeting the requirements were strict, and that the programme would be of the highest quality to date.

The Minister expressed his expectation that more than 5,000 children and young people will visit their homeland, and that local governments will do everything to ensure that the memories they take away from Serbia are as positive as possible.

Children and young people who participate in the camps come from different parts of Europe and the region, and their participation provides them with the opportunity to learn the Serbian language, study their culture, develop sportsmanship and build friendships with their peers from the homeland, the Minister pointed out.

Milićević specified that children from the diaspora and the region have access to ecological-educational, cultural-educational, as well as sports-educational camps, explaining that each local self-government unit can decide on the area to organise and implement.
