Minister for Family Care and Demography Jelena Žarić Kovačević signed contracts today with 88 associations that will implement projects during this year aimed at supporting families, improving the position of children and strengthening demographic and population policy.

The Ministry has allocated RSD 117.5 million for the implementation of these projects.
Žarić Kovačević specified that the funds were allocated in such a way that RSD 45 million has been earmarked for related to family-law protection of citizens and support for families and children, RSD 31.5 million for population policy, RSD 22.5 million for demographic policy, while RSD 18.5 million has been allocated for the programme supporting associations in the field of family and child protection.
She confirmed that the Ministry will continue to build partnerships with the civil sector, listen to its experiences and further strengthen the system of support for families through programmes of this kind.
The Minister emphasised that, after a long period, Serbia is recording positive demographic trends, bearing in mind that 495 more babies were born in the first three months of this year than in the same period last year.
Žarić Kovačević reiterated that active care for families, support for parents and the creation of better living conditions are the most important prerequisites for a positive demographic outlook and the future of Serbia.
