Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić met with President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to discuss strengthening ties between Belgrade and Tashkent and bringing the two countries and peoples closer together.
Đurić noted that bilateral relations between Serbia and Uzbekistan are traditionally good, friendly and without open issues, and conveyed Serbia’s clear commitment to continuing and expanding cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
The head of Serbian diplomacy also conveyed an invitation from President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić to President Mirziyoyev to visit Serbia.
The Minister noted that maintaining and strengthening political dialogue at all levels is of great importance, while also expressing gratitude for Uzbekistan’s support for preserving the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia.
Speaking about economic relations, he stated that Uzbekistan is an important partner of Serbia in that part of the world and that there is a clear intention to further develop cooperation, increase overall trade and strengthen economic ties.
Serbia highly appreciates Uzbekistan’s confirmation of participation in Specialised Expo 2027 and, as host, will strive to ensure that this country of rich culture and history is presented in the best possible way.
