At the meeting in Jerusalem, it was noted that, in addition to the traditionally strong ties between the two states and peoples, this visit and strategic dialogue are entering a new stage in bilateral relations between Serbia and Israel.
Referring to President Herzog’s visit to Serbia in September 2024, as well as the recent meeting with President Aleksandar Vučić on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, the interlocutors agreed that intensive political dialogue is a good basis for strengthening bilateral relations.
On this occasion, Herzog sent his greetings to the President of Serbia, as well as an invitation to visit Israel.
The officials expressed satisfaction with the start of a strategic dialogue in the fields of economics, artificial intelligence, education and technology, which will bring concrete benefits to the citizens of the two countries.
Speaking about the similar experiences and sufferings that the Serbian and Jewish peoples have gone through throughout history, Đurić particularly emphasised the preservation of the culture of remembrance as an important segment of it.
The Serbian Foreign Minister informed Herzog about the difficult situation for the Serbs, the unilateral moves of Priština and the institutional violence to which the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija are exposed on a daily basis, as well as the Priština authorities’ avoidance of fulfilling the obligations stipulated in the Brussels Agreement.
Serbia, he stressed, remains committed to constructive dialogue and respect for international law.
The interlocutors also discussed regional issues, Serbia’s European path, as well as the most important topics in the international arena.
