First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Siniša Mali attended a reception at the residence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in Washington, where Specialised Expo 2027, to be hosted by Serbia, was promoted.
Addressing last night’s reception for over 250 guests, Mali extended an invitation to the world’s major companies to join Expo and to participate through cooperation with Serbia in its further progress and accelerated development.
He told more than 30 ambassadors, high-ranking officials of the US administration, the State Department, Congress and the Senate, as well as the US Department of Commerce and the Treasury Department, that next year Serbia will be the centre of the world.
The First Deputy Prime Minister said that California-based company Archer will showcase air taxis in Belgrade at Expo and that Cisco is the second-largest sponsor of the event.
Mali pointed out that a stage of difficult fiscal consolidation is behind Serbia and that, following the implemented reforms, since 2018, Serbia has been one of the fastest-growing economies in Europe.
He noted that Serbia and the US have been nurturing diplomatic relations for 145 years and that it is time for the cooperation agenda of the two countries to move even faster in the right direction, especially in areas such as infrastructure, energy, artificial intelligence and healthcare.
The First Deputy Prime Minister underlined that 137 countries have confirmed their participation in Expo 2027 to date and that it will be the biggest Specialised Expo ever.
US Commissioner General for Expo 2027 Belgrade Gavin Wax, who is also Chief of Staff to Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Sarah Rogers, emphasised that he is impressed by the strong commitment of the Serbian government to organising the Expo.
The Under Secretary of State will travel to Belgrade soon to sign the Participation Contract, which will underscore the shared commitment to making the Expo a success for both countries, Wax stated.
