Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić met today with Deputy Minister for International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa Alvin Botes, who is in Belgrade to participate in bilateral political consultations between the two ministries.

Emphasising the traditionally friendly ties between the two countries, which this year mark 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Đurić said that he expects the bilateral consultations to contribute to the deepening of relations and the strengthening of contractual and legal regulations as the basis for the implementation of specific modalities of cooperation.
This is an important year for strengthening ties between Serbia and the Republic of South Africa, Đurić said.
The Foreign Minister stressed that the intensification of political dialogue and the exchange of visits at the highest and highest levels provide an incentive for the development of overall relations and recalled the open invitation to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Africa to visit Serbia.
He thanked for the principled support for preserving the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia and emphasised our commitment to respecting the UN Charter.
Referring to economic cooperation, Đurić stressed that it should accompany good political relations, adding that we see potential for improving cooperation in other areas of common interest.
The Foreign Minister also expressed special satisfaction with the confirmation of the participation of the Republic of South Africa in Specialised Expo 2027 in Belgrade, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
