The Commission for Missing Persons of the Government of the Republic of Serbia announced that, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it organised today an exhibition entitled “Memories” by associations of families of missing persons at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.

The exhibition, opened during the 61st session of the Human Rights Council, will be available to the public until 27 March.
Its purpose is to raise awareness within the wider community of the tragic suffering of populations in armed conflicts, to nurture a culture of remembrance that focuses on the position of the victim, as well as to promote reconciliation in the region.
The artworks inspired by the stories of families of persons missing in the armed conflicts of the 1990s in Croatia and in the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija were previously part of exhibitions in several cities in Serbia.
The exhibition is aimed at building a culture of remembrance of the wartime suffering of Serbs in the former Yugoslavia in the 1990s, placing the victims’ perspective at the centre through a new approach to memorialisation.
