Đurić, who is in Trieste on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Central European Initiative Executive Secretariat (CEI-ES), said that Serbia based its participation in this gathering on the message that it actively contributes to resolving regional and European issues.
The Minister pointed out that it is in Serbia’s strategic interest for the region to become part of the European Union’s single economic area as soon as possible, which would further accelerate development and stability.
Serbia is committed to accelerating the European integration of the region, he said, noting that this process was recently initiated at the highest level, and that the country, with its economic potential and population, can significantly contribute to the overall development of Europe.

The head of Serbian diplomacy also recalled the long-standing participation of Italian soldiers in the protection of the Visoki Dečani monastery as an important example of cooperation and support, adding that Italy is one of Serbia’s most reliable partners in the EU and that it strongly supports its European path.
