First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Siniša Mali today opened the ERA Regional Airline Conference 2026 in Belgrade, which brought together more than 220 companies from the aviation ecosystem.
Mali pointed out that next year, Serbia will welcome between three and four million guests during the 93-day Specialised Expo 2027, which will bring benefits to the entire country, especially tourism and investments.
The First Deputy Prime Minister also stressed that this opportunity must be used for regional development.
He said that Serbia is among the top three or four countries in Europe in terms of economic growth, that it is macroeconomically stable, and that it is the only candidate country for full membership in the EU with an investment-grade credit rating.
Mali pointed out that Air Serbia is a symbol of the changes that have occurred in Serbia, adding that the company today flies to more than 100 destinations with a fleet of 29 aircraft, while it has surpassed the passenger record of the former JAT, which operated in a country that had a population of 22 million.
ERA General Director Montserrat Barriga stressed the importance of regional aviation for connecting capitals and local communities, strengthening developing markets and maintaining balanced connectivity across all regions.
The host of the two-day meeting is the Serbian national airline Air Serbia.
ERA member airlines carry more than 52 million passengers annually, operate more than 1,030,000 flights and cover more than 3,350 routes.
