Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, visited Kladovo today, where he toured the Health Centre and spoke with Mayor of the Municipality Saša Nikolić, his associates and businesspersons from the area.
At a meeting with the management of the Kladovo Health Centre, Macut discussed further improvement of health care and conditions for patient treatment.
The conversation emphasised that this health centre plays an important role for the citizens of eastern Serbia, especially in the treatment of oncological patients, as it is one of the few centres that provides radiation therapy.
Since the oncology department treats approximately 1,600 patients from the Bor, Zaječar and Braničevo districts annually, the Prime Minister emphasised that it is important to continue with investments in order to further improve the capacities of this institution.
The Prime Minister stated that the existing accelerator, which has been in operation since 2018, operates in two shifts and annually provides treatment for approximately 500 to 550 patients with more than 10,000 radiation sessions.
He stressed that it is very important to secure a new accelerator, worth approximately €3 million, because it is an investment that will significantly improve the treatment of patients in this part of Serbia, and added that the funds for this project were made available with the support of the World Bank.
Macut discussed the development projects of this municipality with Mayor of the Municipality of Kladovo Saša Nikolić, and his associates, and emphasised that the state continues to invest in infrastructure and projects that improve the quality of life of citizens.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the balanced development of all parts of our country is very important for the Government of Serbia, and that the Municipality of Kladovo has the full support of the state in the projects that are currently being implemented.
