Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, stated today that Serbia and Republika Srpska will advance cooperation in the coming period in terms of infrastructure and education.
At a news conference at the Serbian government building, held following a meeting with Prime Minister of Republika Srpska Savo Minić, Macut announced the joint construction of road and railway routes, a border crossing between Serbia and Republika Srpska, as well as the establishment of daily flights.
The Serbian Prime Minister stated that today’s meeting is a continuation of the previously agreed meetings between representatives of Serbia and Republika Srpska, adding that the next meeting of the two governments will be held in Trebinje on 23 May.
According to him, specific solutions and issues related to transport infrastructure will be discussed at that time.
He added that, at today’s meeting, discussions were made more specific regarding cooperation in several fields, among which the infrastructure segment is the most prominent and significant.
We discussed the construction of road routes, but also the railway route between Mokra Gora and Višegrad, as well as the border crossing between Republika Srpska and Serbia, the efficiency of which will be increased, which will enable faster and easier communication for citizens, Macut said.
He also announced that, as part of enhancing relations, strategic cooperation in the field of education and science will be established, as well as that in the energy sector, work will be done to connect the two energy systems.
Minić said that the main project for the Trebinje airport will be completed in the next two months and added that the priority in infrastructure projects between Serbia and Republika Srpska remains the construction of a gas pipeline, as well as the introduction of a daily Trebinje-Belgrade flight, in order to relieve road traffic.
