Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica and Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Zoran Loncar met today with representatives of the List for Sandzak coalition, Novi Pazar municipality president Sulejman Ugljanin and Bajro Omeragic to discuss the text of the new constitution.
The officials agreed that the new constriction will speed up the country’s EU integration process.
Representatives of the List for Sandzak noted that the new constitution envisions highest standards in the protection of human and minority rights and provides political and economic decentralisation, which is of great importance for all municipalities and regions in the country.
Ugljanin and Omeragic stressed that the new constitution envisions balanced regional development, which will make it possible for all parts of the country to develop equally. The draft of the new constitution allows municipalities the return of property and that municipalities increase their own incomes.
The two Sandzak politicians informed the Prime Minister that the List for Sandzak will support the constitution in the session of parliament’s Committee for Constitutional Affairs.
