The Serbian National Minorities Council held a session today at the Serbian government, presided over by the Prime Minister and Council President Vojislav Kostunica.
The Serbian Prime Minister and Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Zoran Loncar acquainted the presidents of national minorities councils with solutions from the new Serbian constitution, especially with the provisions concerning the realisation and protection of human and minority rights.
It has been pointed out that the provisions of the new constitution guarantee individual and collective rights and that they will undoubtedly further improve the position of national minorities.
Agreement has been reached at the meeting that in line with new minority rights established by the new constitution, the preparation of a law on election and competencies of national minorities councils will begin.
