Minister of European Integration Nemanja Starović signed today in Belgrade with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Serbia and the Government of Hungary on expert assistance in negotiations on Serbia’s accession to the European Union.

Hungary’s strong support for Serbia’s European path

The signing of this document was one of the activities at the 15th session of the two countries’ Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation, held today at the Palace of Serbia.
The two ministers assessed that this memorandum confirms Hungary’s strong support for Serbia’s European path and further strengthens cooperation in the field of European integration.
Hungary will, as stated, continue to provide Serbia with expert assistance through knowledge exchange, training and support in harmonisation with the EU acquis.
As an EU member state with significant experience in the accession process and the use of European funds, Hungary will also provide Serbia with technical assistance in key negotiation chapters.
Starović and Szijjártó emphasised that European integration is a strategic priority for Serbia, that the country’s progress in this process is important because it contributes to the stability and prosperity of the region, and that the two countries will continue intensive political dialogue and practical cooperation in order to further accelerate Serbia’s accession process, according to a statement from the Ministry of European Integration.
