Summing up the results of the visit, Đurić emphasised that a high degree of overlap in views and understanding of Serbia's positions was noted, especially when it comes to preserving stability in the region, economic development and protecting the position of the Serbian people where they are threatened.
He stated that he discussed with his interlocutors in Washington the position of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, the need to preserve their rights, as well as broader regional issues, including the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the influence of certain external actors.
The Minister underlined that Serbia is respected in the United States, that its views are taken into account, and that there is a clear commitment to developing cooperation.
He recalled that relations between Serbia and the United States were at their lowest level in the past, and the fact that a brief meeting with the US Secretary of State and talks with key representatives of the National Security Council and the State Department were held testifies to the importance attached to Serbia.
Đurić said that, in accordance with the mandate of the President of the Republic and the determination of the state leadership, he will continue to work on strengthening Serbia's position in the United States, emphasising that this is a matter of a responsible and consistent state policy.
