Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić met in Washington with Executive Director of the National Energy Dominance Council Jarrod Agen.
The talks focused on the further deepening of the strategic cooperation between Serbia and the United States in the field of energy, as one of the key issues of global stability, economic development and security.
Đurić emphasised that Serbia views energy as a pillar of its overall development and as a sector of exceptional geopolitical importance.
Therefore, as the head of Serbian diplomacy stated, it is of utmost importance to resolve the issue of Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS) as soon as possible, which would create the prerequisites for further deepening Serbian-American cooperation and enable the realisation of the full potential of the strategic partnership in this area.
The interlocutors discussed the next stages in the implementation of joint projects in the field of hydropower, as well as further strengthening of Serbia's gas connection with the regional and European energy market, with the aim of diversifying supply routes and sources.
It was emphasised that Serbia, as a reliable partner, wants to contribute to the broader energy security of Europe and the stability of the Western Balkans region, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
