The Serbian Ministry of Science and Environmental Protection stated that the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) has announced today that "RS" has been adopted as the shortened two-letter international name for Serbia. This is in addition to "SRB" as the shortened three-letter name, which means that the Serbian government's proposal has finally been accepted.
In its preliminary decision ISO declined to accept "RS" as the shortened two-letter name for Serbia. However, the Ministry of Science and Environmental Protection and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs submitted a letter of complaint on behalf of the Serbian government and talks with ISO representatives ensued at which the Serbian government's argument and proposal were adopted, adds the statement.
