The Directorate for Environmental Protection at the Serbian Ministry of Science and Environmental Protection stated today that they have signed a contract with the Vinca Nuclear Sciences Institute concerning the realisation of a project to clean up the soil contaminated with depleted uranium at the Reljan location in Presevo municipality, worth 27.5 million dinars with VAT.
The statement adds that the project's realisation will be financed by the Serbian government and apart from Vinca experts, the clean-up will also involve experts from the Serbian Army.
It has been planned that the clean-up be completed in 112 days and the Directorate will inform the public on the process regularly.
Once this project is completed, the clean-up of all locations contaminated with depleted uranium will also be concluded, reads the statement.
