Vojislav Kostunica
Addressing the participants of the formal academy held at the National Theatre to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Belgrade High School of Mathematics, Kostunica stressed that the Serbia of today which has come far on the road of recovery though is yet to face hardships, is in need of such young people.
If those who are the most capable give their best, every obstacle can be more easily overcome, said Kostunica adding that Serbia will keep helping the most talented individuals and especially the young ones, so they can exploit their potential.
He said that in every healthy society such individuals give a lot more than they take and people who can boast such an elite can make progress and have a future.
The audience was also greeted by Belgrade Mayor Nenad Bogdanovic, as well as by Director of the Belgrade High School of Mathematics Vladimir Dragovic who recalled that students from this school have won over 300 medals at numerous international competitions, which is a rare success in every respect.
To celebrate the occasion, a monograph titled "Forty Years of the Belgrade High School of Mathematics" was presented and actors from the National Theatre performed a play.
Serbian Minister of Education and Sport Slobodan Vuksanovic attended the celebration as well as Belgrade secondary school teachers and university professors and many other guests.
