Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Snežana Paunović chaired today the constitutive session of the Coordination Body for Gender Equality.
The Coordination Body serves as the national coordination mechanism for gender equality issues and is tasked with harmonising the work of state administration bodies and other institutions with the aim of improving the position of women and men in the Republic of Serbia.
Gender equality has been recognised as one of the priorities of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and is an important precondition for overall social, economic and democratic development.
Its implementation ensures equal rights and opportunities for women and men in all areas of society, including economic empowerment and participation in decision-making processes.
Gender equality policies will be integrated into the regular planning and budgeting of public policies at all levels of government, according to a statement by the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government.
