All services on ground, working to eliminate consequences of severe weather

The Office of Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, is in constant communication with the competent authorities regarding the situation in Serbia caused by snowfall, and according to information provided by the Emergency Situations Sector of the Serbian Ministry of the Interior, all services are constantly on the ground and working to eliminate the consequences.

The Emergency Situations Sector warns of the weather forecast for tomorrow, according to which there will be severe frost and snow and freezing rain in Serbia. Tomorrow will be very cold in most of the country, with temperatures ranging from minus 14 in the north to minus ten in the south and southeast of the country.

Due to heavy snowfall, a state of emergency is in force in Loznica, Valjevo, Osečina, Mali Zvornik, Krupanj, Vladimirci and part of the territory of the Prijepolje municipality.

There are problems with electricity supply in the Kolubara, Mačva, Bor and Zlatibor districts, and the teams of the electric power distribution company Elektrodistribucija are on the ground and working to eliminate faults on power lines, substations and the low-voltage network.

All capacities are engaged in order to normalise the situation as soon as possible.

When it comes to road routes, traffic is difficult, and teams of road companies are on the ground and clearing the roads. The most problems are in the Mačva and Bor districts, while in the Zlatibor district all regional and main road routes are passable, but traffic is difficult.

From 4 to 8 January, members of the fire and rescue units had a total of 54 interventions, in which 132 firefighters and rescuers were engaged with 59 vehicles, 18 pumps and three boats. They removed 36 fallen trees, carried out 14 water pumping operations, one assistance to the emergency team and six other interventions, and evacuated 22 people.
