The government members also adopted the Strategy for the Management of Mineral and Other Geological Resources of the Republic of Serbia until 2040 with Projections to 2050, which establishes a comprehensive plan for the development of the mining sector for the next 15 years, with a vision and projection to 2050.
This document introduces a modern and integrated framework for responsible and sustainable management of natural resources, systematically integrating international standards and best practices, thereby improving transparency, predictability and efficiency in mineral resource management.
Particular emphasis is placed on the development of risk management mechanisms, climate neutrality and the application of energy-efficient and low-carbon technologies.
The strategy is based on the principles of sustainable use of natural resources, protection of biodiversity, climate resilience and the reduction of negative impacts resulting from mining activities.
It establishes the concept of sustainable mining, which involves rational exploitation, controlled use of space and the application of modern technologies that significantly reduce environmental impact.
