Contrary to the incorrect allegations, the Serbian border phytosanitary inspection is the one that on two occasions intercepted shipments of industrial kiwi originating from Greece, which were re-exported from North Macedonia, and issued decisions to ban the import and return the shipments to the country of dispatch.
The reason for adopting the aforementioned decisions is that, during routine phytosanitary inspections of these shipments, the presence of specimens of the Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata), was detected, which is listed as a quarantine pest organism and is not present in the territory of Serbia.
