Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić today saw off President of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini and the delegation of that country at the Nikola Tesla Airport, after their official two-day visit to Serbia.
The visit began with a ceremonial welcome, with the highest state and military honours, and continued with a meeting between President Aleksandar Vučić and Pellegrini and a plenary meeting of the two delegations, led by the presidents of Serbia and Slovakia.
During the official visit, a meeting of the defence ministers of the two countries was also held, at which the political and security situation in the region was discussed, as well as the possibilities of deepening bilateral cooperation in the field of defence, which is given special impetus by the close relations between the two state leaders.
On the second day of the visit, Presidents Vučić and Pellegrini met and spoke with representatives of the Slovak community in Serbia in Bački Petrovac.
The high-level visit is a confirmation of the friendship and strong support that Slovakia provides to Serbia on its path to European integration, as well as its principled position on preserving the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia.
