Appearing on Radio Television of Serbia (RTS), Macut stated that the situation is constantly being analysed and that a risk assessment is being made by a team with the President of the Republic and all relevant ministries that are responsible.
According to him, if the current situation is not resolved immediately, we have an alternative solution at our disposal that will be implemented if all other options are exhausted.
Therefore, we are not without a way out, we are keeping the situation under control – it is very stable and no one should worry about the energy future in Serbia at this time, the Prime Minister reiterated.
Macut stressed that the supply is currently maintained and that there will be no shortages, stating that there are certain deadlines and plans regarding the transformation of ownership and the future of NIS, i.e., its infrastructure.
He expressed the expectation that the situation with NIS will be resolved by January, noting that Serbia also expects the issuance of a licence by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
I expect a favourable outcome, as well as the continuation of our safe and consistent policy, i.e., the strategy that leads us to a final solution, Prime Minister Macut underlined.
At the same time, he emphasised that economic, energy and social stability and security are the three most important factors that will be the priority of the Government in the coming year.
According to him, through all these three elements, which are intertwined, we need to show that we are a stable country that is highly developed and that takes care of itself and its residents.
One of the key goals for the coming year will be to improve education and support young people, he said, adding that he had begun discussions on forming working groups that would conduct a detailed analysis of the situation in preschool, school and secondary education. He also referred to the work of higher education institutions, saying that all faculties within all universities in Serbia are working.
