Serbian Minister of Trade, Tourism and Services Bojan Dimitrijevic and Director of the Serbian Tourist Organisation Miodrag Popovic talked today with President of the European Travel Commission Arthur Oberascher who formally invited Serbia to join this organisation.
The European Travel Commission gathers national tourist organisations from 34 European countries in a single market called "Destination of Europe", and Oberascher, who is also the president of the Austrian national tourist organisation, explained that the invitation to Serbia is part of the Commission's strategy to expand its membership to the entire European continent.
Contacts between Serbia and the European Travel Commission were initiated in 2004, and by October 2005, Serbia attended the Commission's General Assembly as an observer for the first time.
