Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica said today in talks with U.S. Ambassador at Large for War Crimes Issues Clint Williamson that the Serbian government has on several occasions expressed full political will to successfully complete cooperation with the Hague tribunal, since that is above all in the interest of Serbia.
Kostunica said that with the adoption of the Action Plan and formation of the action team the issue of cooperation with the Hague tribunal has exclusively become a matter of implementing the law. He stressed that the Action Plan according to the law has only one goal, which is finding Ratko Mladic and other indictees and handing them over to the tribunal.
The Serbian Prime Minister said that he is satisfied with the work of the two coordinators of the action team, one of whom is a special prosecutor for war crimes, which clearly shows that completing cooperation with the Hague tribunal is a question of implementing the law.
Kostunica gave special importance in talks to the question of unpunished war crimes committed against Serbs. He pointed out that it is unacceptable that even after footage testifying to the brutal crimes committed against Serbs was televised daily, that all war criminals responsible remain free.
Williamson stressed the importance of sustaining and developing continued regional cooperation in finding and pursuing war criminals, and added that it is important to complete cooperation with the Hague tribunal as soon as possible.
