Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić met today with newly appointed Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Serbia Ahmed Salama Soliman.
Gašić expressed satisfaction with the first meeting and the opportunity to discuss not only cooperation in the field of defence, but also the advancement of overall relations between the two countries, and wished the newly appointed Ambassador success in carrying out his duties in Serbia.
The Minister emphasised that Serbia and Egypt have been fostering friendly relations for more than a hundred years, and that they constitute a quality basis for the development of cooperation in the field of defence, noting that the exceptionally friendly relations between the presidents of the two countries, Aleksandar Vučić and Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, have contributed to the strengthening of overall cooperation between the two countries.
He expressed satisfaction with the level and number of activities under the auspices of the Mixed Egyptian-Serbian Military Committee and the Military-Technical Committee, as one of the indicators of strong and friendly relations between Serbia and Egypt.
At today’s meeting, the interlocutors reached an agreement that the current cooperation in the field of defence is of high quality, but that there is room for its further improvement.
The Egyptian Ambassador conveyed his gratitude to Minister Gašić for the opportunity to discuss the development and improvement of cooperation, according to a statement from the Ministry of Defence.
