Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, today spoke with Minister of International Relations of the Republic of Botswana Phenyo Butale about the development of overall relations between the two countries.
Welcoming Minister Butale, Macut assessed that there is room for deepening cooperation between the two countries, especially in the areas of economy, digitalisation, education and healthcare.
The Prime Minister stated that Butale’s visit is a step forward on this path and a significant incentive for the development of cooperation.
The Prime Minister pointed to the decades-long friendly relations between Serbia and Botswana that have lasted since the time of the Non-Aligned Movement, adding that the two countries should strengthen old ties, as this is for mutual benefit.
He expressed gratitude to Botswana for its understanding and support in preserving the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia, stating that respect for international law and commitment to peace and justice are values that permanently connect the two countries.
Butale expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Macut for the welcome, stating that he feels at home in friendly Serbia.
The Minister stated that relations with countries such as Serbia can help achieve Botswana’s goals, primarily in improving the economic situation, developing digital services and improving the health and education sectors.
He invited Prime Minister Macut to visit Botswana and learn about the potential of this country, which, as he stated, is connected to Serbia by friendship and respect.
